Scratch-built 'X Marks the Spot' Cupboard
This sweet little cupboard just won us over when we found it in a hidden corner of an antiques shop. Overlooked for so long, we took it back to the workshop and discovered all of its little secrets. Its door latch was broken, the inside was stained, it was dark and dirty, and needed some well-deserved attention.
Made primarily from oak, we think this piece is early-ish 20th century (pre-WWII?) though it may have been made later but with older scraps. Either way, the grain of the piece is stunning! It has been stripped and sanded with care, thoroughly cleaned and treated for woodworm (no sign, but just in case!), loose joins repaired, and sealed for another 50+ years of use.
The shelf has been covered with whimsical Paperboy ‘How Things Work’ Wallpaper.
